Brief of Georgia O’Keeffe

Personal Information
Name: Georgia O’Keeffe
Gender: Female
Age: 70 years old
Place of Birth: Sun Prairie, Wisconsin
Illness: Degeneration of eyesight due to macular degeneration
Family Background: Ancestors were from Ireland and Hungary; her family was farmers. She grew up in both Sun Prairie and Williamsburg, Virginia.

Qualification:
Graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Madison, Madison High School in Williamsburg, Art Institute of Chicago, and Art Students League in New York City.

Achievements:
In 1908, she won the League's William Merritt Chase still-life prize for her oil painting mona shehab (Dead Rabbit with Copper Pot). She receives a scholarship to study the League’s outdoor summer school in Lake George.

She was also awarded honorary degrees by numerous universities; the first by the College of William and Mary in 1938, and in the mid-1940s, the Whitney Museum of American Art sponsored a project to establish the first catalogue of her work.

She was elected as the member of American Academy of Arts and Letters and became the first woman to have retrospective show of her arts at the Museum of Modern Art.

She was awarded the Gold Medal of Painting by the National Institute of Arts and Letters and the Medal of Freedom which is the nation’s highest civilian honor.

She was presented with the National Medal of Arts in 1985 by President Ronald Reagan.

Personal Preference
Characteristic:
• An independent woman and feels uncomfortable to live in cities as she loves open space and solitary.
• Before this she loves to travel to get more inspiration for her paintings.
• She loves Texas the most. She can spent years in the dessert and collecting objects to be painted.
• She is a very detail person. She makes detail observation on the objects she about to paint. Therefore, most of her paintings are full with her self-expression.
• Somehow, since she is an abstractionist, she only paints what is necessary to detail up the subject and leaving the rest out from her painting.
• She paints according to her periodical subjects suggesting she is always open to new subjects and always trying new stuff.
• She always prefers to magnify objects that she about to paint for she believes in doing so she will her message she wants to convey clearly. For example, she manages to magnify her detail drawings of her flower’s period.
• Lastly, she is very dedicated to her works and may spent days and nights in finishing her arts.

Some proposals
Shape: Geometry, maybe triangle or square
Materials: Concrete, Glass, maybe a little bit of Timber
Color: Bright Colors, but not too colourful
Opening: A lot for ventilation, Square
Spaces: Hall, Kitchen with dining table, Drawing room, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, maybe a gallery or a space for her to admire/display all her art work, a comfortable working space as she's very dedicated to her works as she may spent days and nights in finishing her arts, a relaxing area/a balcony for her to get inspiration or release stress, etc.
