Brief for Chris Ofili
· An artist-client whose is 70 years old now.
· Physically healthy, flexible in mobility.
· He had chosen Malaysia as a place for his next life.
· The cost of living and tropical climate that is warm to hot and moist year-round in Malaysia are the main reason attracted him to immigrate here.
· Ofili still would like to enjoy living and be alive in relaxing peaceful lifestyle. The location that he wanted to place his accommodate tend to headed for a nature environment. Not in the busy city.
· The key concept of his ideal house is likely to be “Paradox and Contradiction” which is designing in contradiction style. For example, in sense of the house having two sides – close and open to the world.
· The quality of his ideal retreat house:
- 2 storey house and appropriate in size
- Spaces required are living room, kitchen, two bathroom (upper and down floor), dining room, a small drinking bar and a roof top space
- Open-plan design which is easy to access from one space to another, in an additional less partitions between the spaces are required
- Each part of the house may encourage in multi-functional usage
- Provide adequate direct and indirect lighting
- Great ventilation system
- Offer some detailing for elderly such as ramp, the consideration of staircase, bathroom requirements for aging and so on
- No unevenly or slip pavement surface which may cause accident
- Wide range of building material such as concrete, timber, glass and etc
- Unique flooring finishing
- Special openings which place in different manner : modern random mixing tradition
· Design consideration in space:
- The living room is to make to stay socially active
