AMONG the cultures in Malaysia, Malay is not only the first impression but also the only culture to the world. However, who did notice and realize that various cultures make Malaysia becomes Malaysia? The well-known artist, Alfred Alexander Gockel, is the one. When a child has been told that Malaysia is a multi-racial country, he believes with no doubt; then therefore why a teenager would doubt that Chinese, Indian and other cultures are one of the representatives?

The famous artist, Alfred Alexander Gockel had found that none of any other country in the world has the advantage that what Malaysia does have; thus, the multi-racial culture in Malaysia is the main reason that why Malaysia is chosen as the country for his retirement.

The talented artist, who was fascinated by the magic of colors on paper at the age of 8, had found his principles of design, ‘Music & Dance’, are completely linked to cultural aspect in Malaysia. According to Gockel, an incredible drives of his characteristic figures and compositions in vibrations and eventually reflects a motion in his artwork (“rhythmical painting”).

The different cultures in Malaysia give a ideal factor to the artist for producing his painting in such a cultural place. In Malaysia, many cultures other than Malay are not been noticed and Gockel plans to develop these culture in painting, which is totally differently spoke out with words in a history way.

The expectation of Gockel toward his painting, "My aim is to paint harmony”, becomes the essential of his art works and also the second reason that led the immigration of Gockel to Malaysia from Germany. Harmonious life between various races in Malaysia had fulfilled the requirements of Gockel. The flourishing and busy life in Malaysia gives a very deep impression to the optimist artist no matter is to get ideas for his painting or get used to be with the new environment of accommodation. The creative artist had a very deep influence from his parent since his childhood life just because of his daddy is a designer while mummy is a craft maker. This not only caused Gockel become a successful artist but also as a consequence, Gockel loves producing harmonious paintings in vivid style yet full of emotion.

The German artist had entrusted the duty of analyzing and choosing the best site in Malaysia for his new house is Malaysia for his retirement life. The preferable site is located between the town area and outskirt of the country for the purpose of having an enjoyable and preferable life style (flourishing life) and meanwhile he could have a trip at the outskirt area when his families and friends come visiting him sometimes. According to Gockel, he loves playing tennis, walking in the German forest with his two dogs, jumps on two Harley Davidson with his wife, and driving to their favorite spot at the island Sylt, when he was young. Gockel has deeply believed that although his life turns into the olden stage; his passion of life will never fade out.
