ABID'S ART GALLERY, MALACCA, 2007

Hi Guys.. remember the CONCRETE & STONE lecture I gave in Penang? I recall that the projected images of Abid's Malacca Gallery had ghastly colours as the laptop was switched to some undesireable mode.

Well, here they are again, in full colour, the way they appeared to me on the laptop screen. Brilliant!

I thought that now would be a good time to present you with a sight for SORE eyes. A good benchmark, too.

Enjoy! & Kudos Abid!

Lik, don't mention it... Always a pleasure. And I'm not sure if scale has any meaning in a computer model. (It probably does.) This was all done on Sketchup with downloaded plug ins. (Abid might answer your question here if he's not too tired. He's to submit his finals on Monday.)

Way to go Maoyang!..you sound so cool about it. Yup, ST and I are holding our breath until the day!

Don't forget the light sources in the building for some really snazzy night scenes.

hi abid! may i ask what sketchup plugins did u use for this model?

Mak' De Archae said...

the plugins called V-Ray... should be
easy to find

payment as a sign of gratitute. But if gratitute can be expressed in zero dollars. All my gain! can do the whole thing for free also, jon, u want ar? Free labour! whoohoo!

Abid, love ur design anyways, i like to know though wht was the reason u gave for your design being so high up? for fenestration?

Happy working during the study break guys. Do get ur 8 hours of beauty sleep, or you'll be fugly during presentation day. haha

abid:so it is v-ray..i thot so too. i got that plugin already. still figuring out how to use it..it takes a longer time to render compared to 3dsmax :\

to euric:
reasons were plenty... wanted to deal with vertical circulation, wanted to break the vernacular patterns, iconized the gallery in the whole town... views to jonker street... well it was a complete process not just a tall/huge monument... ma design was an extension to jonker walk... goin upwards... n so on...

to saint:
v-ray is hard to control easy to use software... either will mess ur thing up or will make it look nice... ya need to do ur model extra ordinarily neat to achieve good results unlike 3dmax yeah it sure does takes longer time but its optional atleast sketchup even without rendering doesnt give a total disasterous impression... in short if ur spaces n ur design r good... will come out good... ya cant create illusion with vray... its more like doin a physical model... choose low quality renderin its good enough actually. good luck!
