Update:

Hi, All! It's been some time :)

I've been busy on the teaching and learning front.

I'm into my 4th teaching year in University of Technology Sarawak. My stint here will close at the end of August 2022. It's been fulfilling - challenging yet fun.

The main happening in 2021 was the finishing of my PhD for submission a few days ahead of the deadline in September. It was the culmination of 3.5 months of daily writing for 10 hours, 6 days a week. I thank God for sustaining me through that period!

The viva voce was a blast!

It was awesome having Kathleen Adams, internationally renown anthropologist, as Examiner 1 and Poline Bala, top Kelabit scholar in the world, as Examiner 2. Mostafa Rasoolimanesh, head researcher of Social Science and Leisure Management from Taylor's University, completed the panel of examiners.

It was wonderful when they announced that it was a pass with minor modifications!

This forthcoming semester starting 21 Feb 2022 in UTS I shall teach History & Theory of Architecture II (again) & Architectural Practice to the undergraduates, and Design Thesis II to the Master's graduating cohort.

It should be exciting, too, as my 3 M Arch students are looking at

  • cynosure and orangutan preferences
  • drone transportation
  • the development of freedom in Malaysia.

I'll be researching and writing a few papers on the side. Reviewing for international journals has lately come in as a fun thing to do, too.

Roll on, 2022!
