Interim Show Mon 31.7.06

Please pin up your work by 1300hr on Monday, and spend the next half hour checking out each other's work. I'll be looking at your work, too.

We'll then spend some time throwing questions at each other. Be prepared to explain what you're up to in your design (so far.)

I expect you to look at EVERYBODY'S work, and will ask you what you think of aspects of another student's work. This is part of your training in being critical, in analysing and interpreting. No marks for saying, 'I don't know...'

And you are encouraged to ask for feedback on your work, either on it in general or on specific aspects you really want some feedback on. The more comments you get the better you are able to chart the way ahead. (You don't always have to agree with them, but no harm in knowing what others think.)

I'll do a little sum up after that.

I'll be available in the remaining time till 5pm for anybody who wants to see me individually.

This show is compulsory for all students. You MUST pin up something. Remember this is WORK IN PROGRESS. So use it to your advantage.

Please be punctual, to be fair to everyone.

Ian

Don't sweat...

The purpose of the Interim Show is to allow you to test your ideas, which means that they are probably not yet fully formed, or developed. Or you haven't quite decided what play structure you might come up with. Or you have so many ideas you are totally confused. So bring them all, and let's all talk about them. It doesn't really matter whether you've drawn your concept on a tissue paper or the inside of a Milo tin--as long as you get your point across effectively.

The final submission IS a model, but that's 2 week's away. On the way you may make a few test models, or none. That's ok with me--but you must show me what you are thinking to get there. Show me your thought processes, with more than mere words. You are at least thinking, right? Or not?

(And remember, the model is one of the best ways to capture an idea.)
